Muni Boga

Chief Executive Officer & Founder

With over 15 years of experience as a leader, innovator, and strategist, Muni is passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology. Prior to Kudos, he led the creation of award-winning technology and design solutions for clients throughout Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Mexico. Muni has also been listed as the lead inventor on numerous international patents, including the Vinyl CD that was acquired by Verbatim.

An academic background in architecture was the spark that ignited Muni’s career specializing in product, user experience, brand and strategy. His dedication to creating innovations and models that embrace diversity, enhance human performance and drive culture, has led Kudos to be a disruptive force in the employee engagement industry.

Tom Short

Chief Customer Officer & Founder

Over the course of 25 years, Tom has used his passion for entrepreneurship and marketing to found numerous, highly successful companies. At each organization Tom has built, employee experience has been the cornerstone to building effective teams. He brings this expertise in corporate culture and team motivation to Kudos.

Tom leads business development at Kudos and is active in speaking engagements and thought leadership activities in the HR industry. He is passionate about the role recognition plays in creating a great employee experience and is dedicated to educating the world about what genuine recognition can do for people everywhere.

zahir khoja

Zahir Khoja

SVP Global Acceptance, Product Development & Innovation, MasterCard

Prior to his current senior role at MaterCard, Zahir was CEO for Mobile Payment Solutions (MPS), a joint venture between MasterCard and SMART Hub Inc. Zahir’s professional influence can be seen across the world, having won numerous awards for his part in building a pivotal Mobile Money system in Afghanistan from the ground up. Zahir is currently on the Advisory Board for the Grameen Foundation Technology Centre, was the founding chairperson for AMMOA, and has sat on the Board of the Burnaby Hospital Foundation.  In addition to speaking at events like GSMA Mobile360 Africa, his career also includes time with corporate giants like Virgin Mobile, TELUS Canada and Pepsi-Cola.

Todd Simpson

Venture Partner, iNovia Capital

Based out of San Francisco, Dr. Simpson is a Venture Partner at iNovia Capital.  Prior to this, Todd was Chief Strategy Officer at AVG Technologies.  At AVG, Todd spearheaded initiatives on privacy, performance and protection with a special focus on mobile. Todd has also held the position of Executive Vice President of Innovation Partners at InterDigital Communications, and prior to that was Chief of Innovation at Mozilla Inc. Todd’s prestigious career has been an entrepreneurial journey driven by his love of technology. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an author of numerous patents and papers, Todd joins the board with more than 20 years of invaluable business and technology expertise.

Minaz Lalani

Managing Principal, Lalani Consulting Group

As Managing Principal at the Lalani Consulting Group, Minaz joins the board with a broad scope of experience ranging from strategic actuarial, human resources and risk consultation to private venture fund management. Prior to founding LCG in 2010, he was a principal with Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson), a preeminent global HR company. Minaz has been a Fellow of various actuarial societies and sat on numerous Boards. His years of experience in both the profit and non-profit sector revolves around his Personal Vision Statement: Be C.R.I.S.P. - Creative, Responsive, Informed, Sensitive and Positive.

J.C. Herrera

SVP Human Resources, Lithium Technologies

J.C. brings a proven 15+ year track record of success in cultivating best-in-class, performance cultures leveraging his deep background in global compensation, incentive and rewards programs, learning development, employee engagement and business transformation strategies. He is also an expert in customizing programs that best meet the needs of diverse business models and cultures and respond to today’s dynamically changing landscape. J.C. started his career at Electronic Arts, and progressed into leadership positions at Documentum/EMC, Dreyer’s/Nestle, and McAfee Inc (an Intel Company), where he was SVP of Global HR & Learning.


Phil Toews

P.Eng., ICD.D

After a 30 year engineering and banking career, Phil joins the Kudos board with a diverse background that includes trading and risk management. Previously, Phil was a Managing Director at JP Morgan, where he headed up their Canadian commodity business. Phil made the move to JP Morgan after 13 years at Goldman Sachs. Prior to banking, Phil was involved in start ups in the energy sector, as well as working as an engineer for a multi-national. Phil holds an engineering degree from the University of Alberta, and has obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Moyez Somani

President, The Shadow CFO

Moyez Somani is the President of The Shadow CFO, a consulting firm specializing in Financial Operations Management and CFO Mentoring. Prior to this Moyez was the Executive Vice President and CFO for Farm Credit Canada (FCC), Canada’s largest agriculture lender with a portfolio of over $20 billion. At FCC Moyez had functional responsibility for Accounting and Reporting, Treasury, Internal Audit and Venture Capital.  Moyez holds an MBA and CPA. 

Moyez has serves on a number of Boards and Committees including IPS Industrial Promotion Services Canada, the Pension Council at FCC, VIVO Recreation Centre and Multi Generational Housing.


Karim Manji

Karim managed the Canadian arm of Goldman Sachs Global Commodities in Calgary and was responsible for the physical natural gas business across North America and Mexico. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 and was named managing director in 2006. He has a BApSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1981.

Karim has served as city chair of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada, a nonprofit organization as well as having been both a Regional and National Chair of the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada. He is also a major shareholder in various enterprise including oil and gas, health care, real estate and serves as advisor to the management teams.


Azim Lakhoo

Vice President, Finance at the Coastal Group

Azim Lakhoo is the Vice President, Finance for the Coastal group of companies with business interests in the oil and gas industry, commercial and residential real estate, land development and hospitality sector. Coastal Hospitality’s portfolio includes Ramada, Best Western, Four Points by Sheraton, Delta, Holiday Inn Express and Aloft by W hotels. Azim also manages residential real estate and hotels for the group. Azim completed the Certified General Accounting (CGA) designation in 1984 and obtained his MBA from the University of Liverpool, U.K.
